NAAS Regional Chapter, Karnal celebrated National Science Day with school students on February 28, 2026 at GSF Research Centre, Karnal. Sixty students from Adarsh School accompanied by their five teachers participated. Dr. Gurbachan Singh, Former Chairman, ASRB, New Delhi delivered the Science Day Lecture on the topic Agriculture Science and Society. Dr. Arjava Sharma and Dr. B.Prakash honoured fellows of the Academy also addressed the students covering agrobiodiversity and livestock improvement through embryo transplant technology. Four students also made excellent presentations covering the subjects of AI and Machine learning and their importance for agriculture; climate change and agriculture; natural resources management and water conservation. The participating students also displaced models for depicting science interventions. The convener of Karnal Chapter of NAAS and Chairman GSF research centre presented certificates of participation to all the students on behalf of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi. The visiting students were also exposed to various research facilities and field experiments established at the GSF farm to double farmers income, multienterprize agriculture to make multiple use of resources, climate smart agriculture, crop residue management practices and agroforestry techniques.
